To live and skate Kabul – Skatistan

A few years ago, 3 Australian skateboarders brought their skateboards to Kabul and began teaching local kids how to skate. Since then the project has grown considerably and has not only created Afghanistan’s first skateboard scene but also an environment where young people (boys and girls) can come together to do exercise, forge friendships that trascend social barriers and create identities that are more nuanced than those based solely on ethnicities and religion.
About the director:
Orlando von Einsiedel is a co-founder of Grain Media, has produced and directed several documentaries, promos and short features for a diverse range of TV networks and brands. “Skateistan: To Live And Skate Kabul” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
