Happy weekend on a horse – Matthias Edlinger

We visited Matthias Edlingers Solo Show “Happy weekend on a horse” last weekend. It was the very last day of the exhibit and we arrived there shortly before it was closed. I planned to go there all week and almost didn’t make it there. Damn, I was lucky! Matthias: “As an artist I rely heavily on two things: Concept and coincidence. The fundament for my current collage-artwork are different used cardboards. Each one tells a story of its own. This material is the perfect symbol for our extreme fucked up society. On the one hand the material is used for shipping consumer goods to the rich and famous and on the other hand poor people use it for building their homes. For me this is the perfect basis for all the collages. The pictures I arranged are carefully edited and selected from a variety of topics I collected over the last two years.”
