To put some of the world’s best surfers on surfboard-types, which usually are perceived as hip rather than performance and have these surfers show how hip-performance it can get in one of the greatest waves arround – What a great idea by J-Bay WSL Tour Stop Event Sponsor Corona. Combine a great idea with an intern ready to walk the extra mile in preparation and voilà: Here comes your retro heat, rightfully stealing alot of attention from the regular event.
These boards surfed by an exquisit circle of WSL super-stars (Jordy, Connor, Wolko, Seabass) are very classically looking twinnies based on a fish plan-shape. So expect a very different line to be observed from the boards surfers usually ride in comp. Just watch it, you’ll get it. The Twinnies have been shaped by Hugh Tompson from Natural Curve surfboards. A Jeffreys Bay local who obvioulsy got all the curves figured – of wave and fish-surfboards alike. Would have been great if the sponsors would have properly credited the shaper providing these beautiful sleds!
