Inside California’s Guerrilla Pool Skate Scene
BOARDS & BIKES — 26/02/2017 — by Mixen
Meet Josh ‘Peacock’ Henderson. He has dedicated his life to pool skating in Fresno, aka, the ‘armpit’ of California. This run-down city in the Central Valley has been gutted by the bursting of America’s housing bubble and is full of foreclosed houses with disused pools in the backyards. Peacock and his crew, which features gnarly pool skaters like Mason Morilno, Nick Peterson, and ‘Skreech’, go on weekly expeditions to Fresno to search out pools, drain them, clean them, then skate them like gods. Hop in their hoopty and check out how these pool pilgrims have turned economic devastation into high art.
